US 71 begins
at the Dickinson‑Clay County Line approximately one‑half mile north
of the City of Fostoria and travels northerly, easterly and northerly via the

A portion of
US 71 was annexed into the City of Spirit Lake on November 13, 1984. To reflect this annexation and to provide a
more detailed description of the extension of US 71, in Milford, West Okoboji,
Arnolds Park, Okoboji and Spirit Lake, the official description of US 71 in
Dickinson County should be revised and the new description officially included
in the primary road system.
